ANTIQUE ART DECO FIREPLACE (1925-30) IN PRECIOUS SARRANCOLIN MARBLE, GOOD OVERALL PRESERVATION, ONLY SOME RESTORATION (WITHOUT REPLACEMENT OF MARBLE PARTS) MADE NECESSARY IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO MAKE THE ASSEMBLY OF THE FIREPLACE ITSELF, PROVENANCE PARIS.
Very few Italian dealers keep Art Deco fireplaces in stock, in my opinion mistakenly so, because while it is true that the Art Deco fireplace has few (and refined...) lovers, it is also true that those looking for Art Deco fireplaces want only that and not other kinds...
I always have about 20 of them, if only because of my estimation of the artistic and futuristic courage of those 1925 designers who, after so much Baroque and Art Nouveau, decided to carry out a real stylistic revolution...
Courage, when it is good, is to be esteemed, when it is good and much, even more so..
However.
I do have one worry, though-when I think of my Art Deco mantels. And it all lies in the fact that fireplaces of this style are very few indeed, and increasingly difficult to find.. If you then think that the finest Art Deco fireplaces are in Paris while I am 1100 kilometers away from this artistic Mine, well, then you can understand how I, no matter how many trips and how much hassle I go through in this search, can hardly compare with those two or three great Parisian dealers who, being on the spot, often beat me to the punch regarding these purchases...
But this time I had the upper hand:
And yes, because a beautiful Art Deco fireplace surround like this one, moreover carved in the marble that Louis XIV designated as the most important for his country house (Versailles..), all my Parisian competitors would have wanted to buy...
But they were on vacation, while I, in the mid-August, was on the construction site on the rue de Boetie (it's a street that departs from the Arc de Triomphe...) closing this deal...
