ANTIQUE ART DECO PERIOD FIREPLACE (CIRCA 1930-35) IN LUNEL MARBLE, PERFECT PRESERVATION, PROVENANCE ROME.
Its salient features are:
A) The use of heavy thickness, so much so that the slabs that make it up are about three times as thick as the slabs normally used.. A clear sign that the patron had good purse and perhaps wished their fireplaces to have eternal life. “They will last me a lifetime,” I imagine the patron said to the sculptor, as if his life could border on immortality, on par with a Berlusconi, a D'Alema...
B) Remarkable adherence to the proportions and lines of the Art Deco style in its most classic sense, a sign that the architect who designed this fireplace had not only a good pencil, but also important stylistic studies behind him.
NOTE: WHERE TO PUT WOOD TO REFUEL YOUR ANTIQUE FIREPLACE?
