Antique nineteenth-century fireplace surround, carved in a wonderful Black Saint Laurent marble. This fireplace, from the Pompadour family, is characterized by sinuous, delicate lines and refined proportions. Its best quality by far is its marvelous Black Saint Laurent marble. A very rare marble, related to the precious Italian Portoro marble. Its veining is unique: on a black background, subtle white and golden veins arise and branch out. A treat for the eyes!
This fireplace mantel is authentic, truly antique, and a one-of-a-kind piece.
It was carved in Tuscany, Italy, in the second half of the 19th century.
