There are fireplaces that represent timeless classics—choices that you simply cannot go wrong with—and the Trois Coquilles is undoubtedly one of them.
And if the specific Trois Coquilles example you are about to purchase carries on its surface the patina of this particular piece, and is perhaps also in good overall condition as this one is, well, then the choice will certainly be one you will never regret.
Its dimensions (maximum width 125 cm) fall into what might be called a medium size, suitable for a modern living room. In the 19th century, however, a fireplace of similar size might have been placed in a bedroom or in a smaller sitting room or study, precisely because such dimensions were considered modest for a formal reception room.

No problem—at our warehouse we have several other fireplaces in the same 19th-century Baroque style, some reaching widths of about 150 cm.
Its name obviously derives from the fact that the central shell (the largest one) is flanked, at the upper ends of the legs, by two smaller shells.
In this case, in addition to the sculpture of the three shells, suspended from the large central shell we find a beautiful bellflower, a flower that has long been considered a symbol of Hope and Strength, thanks to its ability to grow even in the poorest soils.
This fireplace surround, as I wrote above, represents a timeless classic, and the limited number of examples currently available on the market—combined with the steadily growing demand—makes it an excellent investment (both cultural and economic at the same time).
