Regency (AMAZING MELANGE OF LUIS XIV AND Louis XV..) in the late 1700s in Paris.
After all these superlatives, I will tell you what my thought was when I first saw it: “IT LOOKS LIKE A SWAN!!!”.
And, mind you, this fulminating impression of mine rose to my mind as this fireplace, in its found condition, looked more like a UGLY ANATROCLE!
But under the dust and the ravages of time (and let's throw in those inflicted on our palmiped by its previous owners . ), UNDER THE FRESH CARES of our Master Restorer, our fireplace has returned to shine and to show its limbs in perfect condition (NO BREAKING OR FALLING, ALL OF ITS STONE BONES ARE HEALTHY AND HEALTHY, ITS SMOOTH AND LEVELLED SKIN EXPRESSES A COMPACTNESS AND SOLIDITY DIFFICULT TO FIND).
IN SHORT, THE UGLY DUCKLING TURNED INTO THE VERY ELEGANT SWAN THAT YOU CAN ADMIRE FROM THESE IMAGES.
