Cast iron fireplaces
I feel a little sad, a situation that, for a hardened optimist (my wife would say "a deluded one") like me is really rare..but...you must know that with this exceptional stove I have "lived" with it, happily, for about 40 years.. I had purchased it to heat what was then our exhibit, a room the size of a schoolroom.... How reassuring, as well as beautiful, was my big Castelmonte!!!
In the evening, when there were only a few embers left at its bottom, I would charge it fully and then-and then, by turning a cogwheel (a very simple thing to do, you learn it right away...) I would adjust its draught, leaving it at the minimum. Result: the few embers left at the bottom restarted the flame and the next morning, entering the exhibition, I would feel welcomed by a familiar warmth and then make the stove happy with a few logs of wood...
But then... we changed exhibitions, today we are in a room of almost a thousand square meters, with an attic height of more than four meters, and our glorious Castelmonte cannot make it..
For a year (a desperate attempt, made more out of fondness than anything else) we have mounted it and kept it with us, but the winter is too harsh, customers complain, and we are forced to replace it with another heating system, perhaps not as poetic, but capable of cooling four thousand cubic meters of room..
It is beautiful, LEI, but it is also very heavy (about 2 quintals) and not easy to transport, however, since our work leads us to make deliveries in the regions from Turin to Rome we can therefore also include free delivery in these areas.
P.S: The tempered glass and transparent mica (quality now exhausted, end of quarrying) are those of origin.
